The first city of Ticino, Swiss-Italian canton The City of Lugano is a cosmopolitan city, home to different cultures (there are more than 146 nationalities among its citizens ), and its central position in Europe promotes relations with other countries. Lugano has always welcomed proposals for collaboration and exchanges with foreign cities, signing important agreements, of which Lugano’s presence at Expo 2015 in Milan is an example. There are many individual, small elements that go to consolidate a broader plan, aimed at promoting the image of Lugano and developing relations of friendship and cooperation with areas and markets offering strong growth potential - such as the Iberian Peninsula, Japan, Russia and China.
